Manuscript, in a single hand, with numerous corrections, of a collection of ten English verse translations of Italian tales, many of them comic or satiric. These include Friar Onion and John of Lorraine from Giovanni Boccaccio's Decameron (1313-1375); the latter translation is prefaced by an introduction in which the writer explains his motivation for choosing obscure works of Boccaccio to translate. Other translations include Machiavelli's Belphegor, which includes an annotation in which the translator acknowledges the fame of the novel as well as several minor changes he has made to it, "to make it still better in verse"; The Cloak by Francesco Berni; The Revenge by Matteo Bandello; and The Cheat, The Magic Cap, The Miracle, and The Spanish Nobleman by Giambattista Casti.
